Fashioning the Self in Slavery and Freedom

Fashioning the Self in Slavery and Freedom is a digital humanities project that explores intersections between slavery and the fashion system. By presenting original content, articles, archival images, and videos with explanatory captions, the project has amassed thousands of followers, including academics, curators, costume designers, artists, and interested laypersons. Building upon this successful virtual community, I expanded on these online conversations with limited-run zines, exhibitions, conferences, and speaking engagements.
